PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 PREPARATION

3.1.1 The general contractor shall provide continuous horizontal access openings through the gypsum wallboard at all wall cavities where the DEDAMIX Retrofit material is to be installed. The openings shall be between 10 and 18 inches high for removal of insulation. The top edges of the opening shall not exceed 1 inch from the bottom surface to the top plates of the wall framing. Drill a 3" hole in wall areas where cavities are empty and no insulation is to be removed.

3.1.2 All insulation material within wall cavities shall be removed by the general contractor prior to insulation of the DENDAMIX Retrofit material.

3.1.3 Existing wall construction ambient temperature of 40 deg.F or higher must be maintained for 24 hours before, during, and 48 hours after application of the fireproofing. If necessary the general contractor shall provide heated enclosures to maintain proper temperatures for job progress.

3.1.4 By commencing DENDAMIX Retrofit installation, the applicator accepts existing wall cavity and environmental conditions.

3.2 INSTALLATION EQUIPMENT AND APPARATUS

3.2.1 Blowing System: Equipment: Any blowing equipment capable of producing the required product flow, adhesive pressure to comply with the manufacturerers requirements and approved by the manufacturer.

3.2.2 ZMixing NOzzle: ONe and one-half inch to two-inch diameter, internal mixing type spiral tip nozzle with minute orifice.

3.2.3 Blowing AHoses: One and one-half inch to two inch diameter, internal ribbed, manufactured by Smooth-bore, or equal. The opening end of the blowing hose, which is placed within the wall cavities and occurring after the mixing nozzle, shal terminate with 1-1/2" to 2" diameter metallic pipe.

3.2.4 Adhesive Pump Apparatus: Any pumping equipment capable of producing the required product flow, adhesive pressures to comply with the manufacturerers requirements and approved by the manufacturer.

3.3INSTALLATION METHOD

3.3.1 Material Mixture: The DENDAMIX Retrofit material shall be mixed approximatlely as follows: 22-25 Bags of fiber per 55 gallon drum of A-23 adhesive.

3.3.2 Material Placement: The DENDAMIX Retrofit material shall be pneumatically placed within the area separation wall cavities as indicated in section 1.1.1 above. The material placement shall proceed from the bottoms of wall cavities to the lower edge of the access openings. Plastic netting shall then be attached over the access openings. The netting shall be cut at each stud bay and the DENDAMIX Retrofit material placement shall continue to the underside of the top plates of the wall framing. When a 3" access hole is cut, that hole will be patched by the general contractor.

3.4 CLEANING

3.4.1Adhesive Residue: The applicator shall be responsible for mixture of adhesive and fiber materials, and meeting the required densities. In the event of adhesive leakage from the bottom of wall cavites, the applicator shall be responsible for immediate and complete cleaning of the adhesive residue.

3.4.2 Upon completion of the DENDAMIx Rerofit installation, application equipment shall be removed and all surfaces not to be sprayed shall be cleaned of any material deposits.

4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1 the general contractor shall provide the following unless specified and agreed to by all parties prior to starting applications of DENDAMIX Retrofit.

a) Adequate electrical service to the location of the blowing system and adhesive pump.

b) Refuse container accessible to DENDAMIX Retrofit applicator.

c) Potable water source accessible to the blowing system location.

4.2 The general contractor shall provide necessary drop cloths, masking and coverings to protect the unit interiors from fireproofing overspray.

4.3 Thegeneral contractor shall extract all wall cavity insulation, and loose obstructions where DENDAMIX Retrofit is to be installed.

4.4 The general contractor shall ensure that there are no glass shower doors or other obstructions that would prevent clear access to the work area for the applicators and inspectors.

4.5 The general contractor shall replace the gypsum wallboard using screw fasteners.
Methods of wallboard replacement include but not limited to the following:

a)Installation of horizontal wood blocking to existing studs. Attach a new layer of gypsum board to blocking.

b) Offset cuts in successive layers of gypsum board for access openings. Replace gypsum board with staggered joints.

All blocing and gypsum board shall be attached using screw fasteners which shall be specified by the project architect.

4.6 The general contractor shall keep to a minimum, impacts or vibratio to the sprayed wall assemblies until the DENDAMIX Retrofit product has had time to set up. Excessive vibrations such as hammering gypsum board or wood blocking into place during set up time may cause settling.

5.0TESTING PROCEDURES

5.1SCOPE

5.1.1 Samples of the DENDAMIX Retrofit material shall be taken once each day during the application process.

5.2TESTING APPARATUS

5.2.1Container A plastic container shall be used. The dimensions of the container shall be: Width 6"; Length 12"; Height 24". The DENDAMIX Retrofit material shall be injected through a 2-1/2" to 3" hole in the top of the container to obtain a relative density sample of DENDAMIX Retrofit material being injected into the wall cavity.

5.3TESTING METHODS

5.3.1Density Testing The density sample will be taken to an approved testing facility to complete the density test as prescribed in ASTM E605 for density testing.
